Spider Grab

Portland Harbour, U.K.

Spider crab can be found in most sea beds, often resting in an open rather than hiding. The algae that grows on their backs can make them difficult to spot. They are occationally seen grouped together which protects the newly moulted and mated females beeing positioned in the centre.

Even if you're tempted to poke them, don't. They will get extremely stressed and most likely they go for you and that hurts.

Always remember never touch any animals under water. This is their home. Respect that.
